While I love the idea in this book, I feel that the story was executed poorly. I'm not a difficult reader to please but this time I feel completely disappointed, I had this book recommended to me time again through amazon recommendations and goodreads that I had such high expectations. My main problem was the characters in this book. They are completely unrealistic and none of them hooked me. While the background story of each of the eight friends sound rich, the author failed to add that depth to their characters. I think the problem might be that they are mentioned too much: Too many bits and pieces on everybody else that we lose focus on the two main characters in the book. They are not that great to begin with... Tina sounds like an old lady with all the "sweeties" and "hons" and "dears" what with all those hugs and kisses she dishes out. At the same time she sounds like a teenager in her way of thinking and in her thoughts. You'd think having a hard life would make her more mature & worldly and perhaps a little jaded, considering what she's been through... Nik's character seems inconsistent to me. An ex "gangster" being so lovey dovey, sappy, and insecure? And there is just too much love between the eight "friends". It's weird. And a little disturbing, to be honest.everyone loves everyone, sits on each other's laps, hugs everyone and kisses everyone. Not even the most affectionate Italian family is *that* affectionate.
I'm an emotional reader, I usually cry over the dramas and heartbreaks in a story. I recognized the author's attempts to hook us in but they just didn't work. For example, the 1st misunderstanding between Tina and Nik, it would've worked if the two scenes were switched. If only we see it first from Tina's point of view, then later on we find out what really happened. That would've gotten me. Instead we lose all of the drama because everything was revealed too soon.
Which brings me to the construction of the book. The constant switching of narrator might be less annoying if they were labelled. That way we don't spend the first 3 lines trying to figure out who's talking.
Too many under developed ideas & plots..
Sad to say I don't think I'll be reading any more of Ms Aurora's works. But I wish you the best of luck...

FriendZoned edition by Belle Aurora Cover It Designs Hot Tree Editing Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
4.5 Stars
Friend Zone is jam packed filled with emotional touching moments. It's sweet and sexy and has a lot of hilarious moments, I loved every minute! This book will give you all the feels...
Tina is a boutique owner in New York starting off fresh after having her heart broken and shattered in California. She is a heroine you will connect with straight away, she's loving, sweet, funny and kind to everyone but she does have a backbone.
Tina has been watching a man across the road, a very sexy man. This man works across the street from her store so she knows his movements in a non stalker way. One thing she's noticed is this man never smiles, she's about to change that, hopefully. She decides to send something anonymously in the hopes it gets him to smile.
Nik is the owner of club across the street. After receiving a note and candy, Nik figures out quickly who sent it to him, it makes him a little nervous, what type of woman sends a man candy? Most women who meet him want him for his money but Tina throws him off by friendzoning him.
Nik and Tina are very different but one thing they do have in common is neither wants a relationship. Watching Tina and Nik's friendship develop was funny yet sweet. The secondary characters were just as entertaining, together this group of friends, this band of misfits all become great friends.
Tina is unlike any woman he has ever met before, she is genuinely kind and caring and would go above and beyond for her friends. Being around a woman like this is new to him, emotions start to stir real feelings, they can't, they are just friends.
Neither of them want to admit it but they have developed real intense feelings for one another. Tina doesn't know if Nik is worth taking the risk for, she's had her heart shattered before, and she values the friendship with him, could being something more change the good thing they have going?
When someone from Nik's past comes to give Tina trouble, it gives Nik the swift kick up the butt he needed to move from the friend zone to something more. For once he wants something real.
This book has it all, I could rave on all day with how good this story is! I adored Tina and Nik they were both so sweet and funny and the secondary characters are funny, sassy and loyal, what can I say I can't wait to find out more about each of them.
“Look around. We’re a bunch of misfits that fit perfectly together.”
There are so many laugh out loud moments, did I mention I love these characters...Friend Zone is a great start to the series!
Ok so I have a really love hate relationship with this author. The first book I read of hers was raw. If u haven't read it don't!! Ok so I read it over a year ago and fell in love!! It was an amazing book! Then I read the ending and long story short I lost my carp and decided I'd never read another book from this author til she finished that series. Well over a year later here and she still hasn't finished it grrrr. Anyway I ended up getting this copy free and had an extra audio book so the next book I have on audio and the 3rd is ku. The only way I was starting this book was to have all books in the series at the tips of my fingers so I didn't have a book melt down again! I started reading this book this morning and just stayed up til midnight to finish it write my review and start on the next because damn is this book amazing!! It's a 5 star must read now!!! And Ms. Belle if you are reading this please finish the raw series and make it available ASAP!!! I need to finish it and at this point I will have to read it all over again!!
This book is filled with lots of typos and grammatical errors, which is typical of this indy stuff, but is still cringe worthy and worth noting. The book is also filled with juvenile writing, unrealistic characters, particularly the Mary Sue main character, and totally over the top melodrama. I will also never understand why an author will set a story in a place she's clearly never visited. The constantly shifting POV is not done well, particularly since this author has zero insight into how men think and talk when they're alone together. This book is just a whole lot of awful. If you're older than 15 and have any life experience at all, I doubt you'll enjoy it.
